Vrikshit Foundation - Empowering youth for a better environment

Our country, India, is said to as a nation of youths. How is it possible that young people, who make up a significant portion of the population, do not take part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan? Youth enthusiastically participating in various cleanliness projects to make their neighbourhoods clean was observed around the country. They also worked to plant fresh trees on those plots of land that had previously been utilised for waste disposal. Several people also became members of various organisations that strive to improve the environment and society. Vrikshit Foundation, one of the top organisations, was established in 2019 with the goal of empowering youngsters and inspiring them to work for the improvement of the environment.

A nonprofit non-governmental organisation called the Vrikshit Foundation is dedicated to encouraging cleanliness and hygienic living conditions for everyone in society. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was supported and helped with by the dedicated volunteers of the Vrikshit Foundation in 2019. On September 18, 2019, the Vrikshit Foundation held a public pledge event at Sri Venkteswara College, University of Delhi, with the theme "Clean and Green India." The mass promise was led by Shankar Singh, the founder of the Vrikshit foundation. They have between 85% and 90% of the young college students who would be India's future as volunteers.

They put in a lot of effort organising plantation drives, clean-up drives, and waste management awareness campaigns in urban, suburban, and rural regions. They received media attention from 17 national media outlets as a result of their efforts, which enabled them to raise awareness of their programmes and entice more young people to volunteer and help make the world a better place. Additionally, they have received recognition from the governments of Delhi, UP, and Himachal Pradesh. They now intend to expand their initiatives internationally. In order to increase awareness and encourage people to take action in favour of a sustainable environment, they also provide trainings, campaigns, and workshops.

More than 400 areas in India have already been cleaned by their volunteers, significantly improving the local environment and people's health. Also, they have successfully planted more than 21672 trees, removed 8 million kilos of rubbish, recycled more than 3.2 million pounds of waste, and had Vrikshit paint a number of walls to improve the aesthetics of society. Their other major accomplishments include the 100k tree challenge and the Yamuna Bank cleanup initiative.

The best thing about Vrikshit Foundation is that it inspires and motivates young people to join their efforts because they are the nation's future and can make a big difference in society as well as motivate others. They currently consist of 5000 selfless volunteers spread throughout 30 cities and 21 Indian states.

Volunteering with Vrikshit Foundation is a great way to take part in changes for betterment of environment and society.
